I am not really sure what the workflow should now be if the recommended ESRI workflow doesn't really work. I was able to create large Sketchup models in the past (up to version 9.3.1) with complex TIN, polygons, points and lines exported directly from ArcGIS using the SketchUp 6 plugin. The option is found in the new preferences window. I then decided to do it the other way around (build the model in ArcScene and add SketchUp models to it) but I don't seem to be able to replace simple multipatches with models edited in Sketchup. This either fails if the surface is not very simple or yields unusable results. Exporting complex surfaces to COLLADA almost always fails and since TIN cannot be exported to SketchUp directly, it has to first be converted to Multipatch. To create a multipatch or 3D object feature class, right-click the database, click New, Feature Class, and choose Multipatch or 3D Object. You can right click on the masters there and update them which fixes some faults automatically. For each mod check what colour the masters are. Also on the right hand side you will see a masters list. ![]() Are all the mods coloured green If not you can right click on them and repair references. Expand the default database or the database containing your data. Goto Mods tab, misc, Tes3cmd and create Multipatch. On the View tab, click Catalog Pane, and expand Databases. I initially wanted to build the model in SketchUp but it seems impossible to export anything out of ArcGIS without the SketchUp 6 Plugin for ArcGIS. If the current map does not contain a multipatch or 3D object feature layer, add it. Why can't I replace the SketchUp model itself? Is this procedure only meant for very simple models? Some faces can be seen from the reverse side. cga file does not annotate the InMesh feature type for a rule package intended for multipatch features. I tried to do projection (RGF93 to WGS84) of multipatch but it appears that after projection it's no more close 3D (so impossible to do geoprocessing). This issue occurs because the rule annotated with StartRule inside the CityEngine. To do that I use meters (RGF93) and need to store it in my Database in WGS84. I create multipatch for simple 3D shapes as Cone, Pyramid and part of cylindre. This only seems to (sort of) work if I export from SketchUp to Collada but only fully closed faces (and only some faces) are visible in ArcScene. ArcGis Multipatch not close 3D after projection. If you want to view a multipatch feature class in the web scene you will need to either create an slpk using the Create Scene Layer Package tool or share directly to portal by right clicking on the layer in the contents pane > share as web layer. ![]() You can share your buildings as a 3D layer so that they can be added to a portal scene by right clicking and sharing as a web layer. If it isn’t, it’s trimmed and you’ll have to redownload it from another site. Use the Layer 3D to Feature Class to create the 3D layer. Some things to note that are common to EVERY error : Check if your ROM is exactly 256mb. ![]()
